What better way to enjoy a snow day, other than getting outside in the white stuff, than by reading! Read anything! Read a favorite book all over. Read a magazine. Read a graphic novel.

The whole day has opened up...surely we can find time to read.

What I Can't Skip My Reading?

As we dig out from the snow and hunker down with our space heaters, fuzzy socks, and endless cups of coffee, there’s no better time to start dreaming about bold flavors, friendly competition, and a little mid-winter fun. LEAF is thrilled to bring back one of our most beloved traditions — the 2nd Annual Cajun Cook-Off — and we’d love for you to be part of it.

🌶️ About the Cajun Cook-Off
Last year’s event was such a hit that we knew we had to do it again. This year’s cook-off will take place on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 3–5 PM at the Gales Ferry Firehouse.

STEM Presents at Board of Education Meeting

Mrs. Dalton and students presented examples of our school's STEM program at the December 18th Board of Education meeting. Students demonstrated examples of projects they have created this year: Flashlights, interactive stop lights, SAM Labs, and a spinning bat. A very exciting and cool celebration of our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics program.

Hi GFS/JWL Families — Please drive slowly and follow all drop-off/pick-up procedures. We’ve had several close calls in the parking lots. Do not pass cars on the right, avoid cell phone use, and wait for staff before students exit vehicles. Safety is our top priority.
